Kristopher is a huge fan of Ninja Turtles. I think tons of 5-year-olds will agree. When we started doing crafts, I wanted to make sure he would get to do something he would love–so our first craft involved his favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Since I was already doing footprint craft with his baby brother, I thought I’d do something similar, and began the search!
- Acrylic paint
- Wide paint brush (for handprints)
- Thinner paint brush (your choice, but small enough to paint the masks)
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- Googly eyes
- Either fabric or printed out accessories for the Ninja Turtles (we printed a shell for each Turtle and their weapons)
- Optional: A smock
Get the colors you want to use. I had a few greens, and he chose which color he wanted to use for each Ninja Turtle (that’s the picture with the orange stickies).
Make sure your little artist is wearing a smock or something because paint gets everywhere.
One hand print at a time — Let them dry.
Once the hand prints are dry, paint the masks on.
Once the masks dry, use the hot glue gun and glue the googly eyes.
It was a fun project that Kristopher loved. He liked being able to make the choice about colors and what to use as accessories. Let them choose, it’s the best!
